According to Wikipedia, Acer pseudoplatanus is known in the United States as the sycamore maple. In the British Isles it's simply known as the sycamore.
But Wikipedia also gives several alternative names: false plane–tree, great maple, Scottish maple, mount maple, mock–plane, and Celtic maple.
